The Positions Purpose

The primary responsibility of this role is to drive revenue by (1) generating leads through professional networking, existing contacts, and cold-calling techniques, (2) prospecting and building new business within pre-identified framework, (3) understanding evolving partner needs and effectively articulating our value proposition, (4) leading virtual and in-person meetings with a consultative sales approach, (5) executing sales methodology and techniques with a value-based approach, and (6) leveraging existing sales organization in partnership with current sales leadership. Conducting effective, efficient, and professional telephone, email, webinar and social media communications to achieve performance metrics is essential and required.

Responsibilities Include

  • Reporting to the CSO, the Partner Consultant is responsible for implementing our business development/sales initiatives and renewal strategies;
  • Working within a matrix type sales model with attention to activity and sales metrics;
  • Obtaining agreement from multiple decision makers throughout all stages of the sales cycle and asking for commitment to confirm a sale;
  • Coordinating multiple location implementation of faculty hiring solutions by working with campus level contacts to standardize processes and procedures;
  • Collaborating and communicating with team members to ensure strong, positive, and profitable partner relations by way of continual support throughout and beyond the sales process, including but not limited to servicing partners in conjunction with Fulfillment department efforts;
  • Demonstrating a high level of intellectual curiosity, problem solving skills and pursuit of knowledge;
  • Embracing APL’s management approach which has as its hallmark self-motivation and management;
  • Making cold calls and driving new business as needed;
  • Utilizing CRM particularly as a tool for reporting activity and achievement;
  • Understanding and utilizing basic social media and software including: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


  • Experience selling software to colleges universities;
  • Proven track record of new business acquisition through various sales techniques;
  • Current proficiency presenting to small and large group audiences either in-person, via conference call, and/or in web enabled environments using PowerPoint and other technologies. Proficiency is defined as being a clear, concise, error-free yet persuasive, spoken and written communicator;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, education, marketing or a related field;
  • Ability to travel to customer meetings, corporate trainings, and tradeshows.


  • Base salary of $36,000 per year with variable compensation of 18%, 19%, and 20% for one year, two year and three year new, executed partner contracts respectively upon payment of said contracts;
  • Performance review 60 days after start date
