This week on the APL nextED Mini-Pod Dr. Jennifer Maney, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at Marquette University, shares how she connects faculty with the institution’s mission and how she helps encourage whole-person support within her work.
Building cross-disciplinary relationships between faculty is a continual focus of college and university administrators, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. To help create these relationships at Marquette University, Dr. Maney leaned into their institutional mission. Through the CTL’s creation of several clubs and resources, faculty were able to connect across disciplines to share knowledge, hobbies, ways to support each other and their students, and much more.

Guest Speaker
Jennifer Maney is the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Marquette University. Her role is to best support the pedagogical practices of all faculty/instructors and also support them with the infusion of Ignatian pedagogy into their teaching. She is responsible for helping to build inclusive, equitable and justice-focused learning experiences in the classroom by helping faculty think of their implicit biases and could impact a welcoming environment for all students.
Prior to this position, she was responsible for the coordination for the Greater Milwaukee Catholic Education Consortium. The GMCEC was a collaborative effort between Alverno College, Mount Mary College, Cardinal Stritch University, Marian University and Marquette University, who joined forces to support Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Maney has also previously served as the Director of Career Development at Carroll University. Maney has a doctorate in Educational Policy and Leadership with a minor in diversity education, a master’s in counseling, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
