Our Story
From a conversation to a platform built for academic teams
We believe that the faculty, staff and academic leadership are the nucleus of an institution. This core group is responsible for collaborating to deliver the service that is most fundamental to the institution — teaching and learning. — Kathleen Gibson, CEO & Founder
During my years in the academe I noticed that while there were many choices for Student Information Systems to support enrollment and retention, and LMSs to manage content and course delivery — and lots of other software — there were no comprehensive systems to help the academic teams collaborate to do the vital work of educating students.
So in 2014, a group of faculty, deans, chairs, academic affairs people, accreditors and I sat down to imagine what a software platform, designed for them, would look like. A year later APL was born.
