In partnership with the American Council of Education (ACE), APL nextED is honored to co-present the 2020 ACE/APL nextED Donna Shavlik Award to Dr. Carol A. Moore, Interim President at Guilford College.
The Donna Shavlik Award was established by ACE in 1999 to honor the long and outstanding service of Donna Shavlik, past director of ACE’s former Office of Women in Higher Education. The award honors an individual whose leadership, both at colleges and universities and in national positions, has demonstrated a sustained and continuing commitment to the advancement of women through actions or initiatives enhancing women’s leadership development, career development, campus climate, and mentoring opportunities of and for women.”
This award has significant meaning to APL nextED, a female-founded and owned higher education software company. APL CEO and Founder Kathleen Gibson dedicated years to higher education, serving as a dean and educator prior to developing APL’s technology. In recent years, Kathleen has dedicated time to help revitalize the ACE Women’s Network Indiana Chapter, the state APL nextED headquarters is located.
Although this year’s event was canceled due to travel restrictions, Kathleen had the opportunity to spend time (remotely) with Dr. Moore over the summer. Dr. Moore has served in higher education for more than fifty years and has helped pave the way for female leaders that follow in her footsteps.
